What to expect when you see one of our Physiotherapists?
Your initial consult will last for about 40 minutes. You will be asked to fill in a new patient form which will include a brief review of your medical history and medication.
The Physiotherapist will ask you questions about your problem, what makes it worse, what makes it better, how it is affecting your life and what you are wanting to get back doing. A history of the current problem and previous episodes will also be investigated. Any relevant x-rays or reports will be reviewed to assist the therapist in working out what the problem is and how they can help you.
The Physiotherapist will then examine the problem area and so you may be asked to remove shirts or trousers to allow this.
Following the examination, the therapist will summarise their findings and discuss various treatment options with you. You will be given the opportunity to ask any questions and to contribute to the treatment plan so you can be involved in managing your injury right from the beginning.
Follow up appointments are normally 20 minutes in duration. If treatment doesn’t progress as anticipated, further examination, discussion and investigations will be considered and treatment adapted accordingly, aiming to achieve an optimal outcome for you as soon as possible.
How long is the consultation?
